Bismillaah
We are in a middle of a very cold winter here. Today, subhanAllaah it started raining while I was on the phone talking to a friend. She practically lives on the other end of the city and we noticed the thunder at the same time and both of us were like: SubhanAllaah!
I asked her for the dua to recite when it thunders and rain but none of us had it memorized. InshaAllaah, while typing it out, I hope to have it memorized for future, so I don’t waste time getting my Hisn ul Muslim copy out of my bag!
At the time of rain:
اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبَاً نَافِعَا
Allaahumma Sayyibann Naafi’aa
“O Allaah, (bring) beneficial rain clouds.”
(Bukhari – Fathul-Bari 2/518)
After it has rained:
مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللهِ وَ رَحْمَتِهِ
Mutirnaa bifadhlillaahi wa rahmatihi
“It has rained by the bounty of Allaah and His Mercy”
(Bukhari 1/205, Muslim 1/83)
At the time of thunder:
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةٌ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ
SubhanAllaahil ladhii yusabbihur ra’du bi hamdihi wal malaa-ikatu min kheefatihi
“Glory is to Him Whom thunder and angels glorify due to fear of Him.”
[Whenever Abdullaah bin Zubair radhiyaAllaahu anhu would hear thunder, he would abandon all conversation and say this supplication. See al Muwatta 2/992.

Its september 5th here in Birmingham England, It started raining last night after Taraweeh Salat and still raining at 3.34pm.broadcasters are saying we are going to have 40mm of rain only allah knows how much we are going to have.

It has been raining, and i googled this dua, i recited at the time of heavy rain and recited after rain had stopped, i also never knew there was a dua after rain. Where i come from it is always raining mashallah. All the better for me

@Sam: Wasn’t there a recent flood in Mumbai due to excess rain last year or something?
There is also a du’a I will post inshaAllaah about asking Allaah subhanahu wa ta’ala for rain, especially in droughts. There is a special salaah (prayer) for rain, called salaatul istisqaa’

How are you? Enshallah be5air( good). I have a question about this du’a because I’m trying to be religious Muslima and helping myself. I found this du’a so do I just recite those setences you have wrote in du’a or is there more to it but yu havn’t completed. Its raining here and I need some du’a to pray 2 allah. Eid Mubarak everyone, I know, it’s very late but still :) Please notify me.

In the hadeeth, this is the only part of the du’aa while it rains/after rain.
You can make any personal du’aa while it’s raining as the du’aa gets accepted.
